Beat - Carers Skills Workshops - Early Intervention
Advice for people supporting a loved one with an eating disorder. Beat provides two carer skills workshops: Developing Dolphins and Raising Resilience. The workshops are both lead by trained eating disorder clinicians and are based on the principles of the New Maudsley method. We offer learning online over five sessions, carers also hear from other families about their experiences and receive peer-to-peer support.
Developing Dolphins gives carers: An increased understanding of eating disorders and the psychology behind them; strategies for encouraging recovery, including motivational interviewing, collaborative goal setting, and more and understanding of how your own behaviour could maintain the eating disorder, and how to avoid this.
Raising Resilience covers: Self-care techniques; how to manage mealtime stress; how to set boundaries, and how to support your loved one at each stage of recovery.
