Mudlarks Community Café
Mudlarks run a large community cafe in Hertford town's main thoroughfare. It provides training placements for neurodiverse adults aged 16+ with learning disabilities and/or mental health concerns improving their skills and confidence in a commercial setting. Adults are trained and gain work experience in all aspects of running a café. Work is varied including food preparation; customer service; kitchen duties and barista training. Paid employment may be offered once full training is successfully completed.

Mudlarks was founded to integrate disadvantaged people with learning disabilities and/or mental health concerns into the community through gardening and catering. Each week we welcome 196 people across the Mudlarks Community to learn new skills which enables disabled people to fulfil their potential by increasing confidence and creating work experience which can lead to employability and college placements. Mudlarks run multiple projects in Hertford. Our learning disabled service users live with profound disabilities including Autism, Downs Syndrome, Fragile X and Cerebral Palsy , they make a recognisable contribution to their community.
Many of our workers with complex needs are not accepted at other day care provisions.The Mudlarks projects reduce isolation and loneliness by offering purposeful day-care to our vulnerable workers with a choice of the following projects: Mudlarks Community Garden Allotments, Mudlarks Café and our Woodland Centre .We also run a Transition Project which Supports SEN School Leavers and College Leavers with support to find daycare.
